Community Partners

The Social Work Department is honored to work with so many great agencies and programs in our community. Our commitment to applied learning experiences to enhance students' knowledge and skills is evidenced through a range of opportunities including class projects for a partner agency, service-learning courses, student-initiated donation drives, on-campus events highlighting partner agencies, and our year-long field placement for seniors.

For Community Partners

WNY Intimate Partner & Family Violence Consortium

The Consortium, established in 2023, provides a space for researchers, students, and the community to network, strategize, and advocate on the issues of intimate partner and family violence. The WNY Intimate Partner & Family Violence Consortium was formed by and is housed at Buffalo State University's Social Work Department.

The Consortium is committed to Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), which requires inclusive collaboration at every step of the research process with the ultimate goal of directing policy and social change. CBPR is done in the community, with the community, for the community.

The Consortium hosts speakers and conferences and provides a vehicle to translate research from academic walls to community members in digestible ways through workshops, trainings, fact sheets, policy briefs, podcasts, and social media.
